Bane, Francis G. of Belmont, formerly of Cambridge, died on Sept. 17, 2014. He was 84 years old. Son of the late Michael J. and Ellen M. (O'Connell) Bane. Born on June 3, 1930, he was the beloved husband of Barbara M. (Connell) Bane, dear and devoted father of Barbara F. Bane of Charlottesville, Va., Stephen M. Bane and his wife Beth of Alexandria, Va., Brian J. Bane and his wife Catherine of San Rafael, Ca., Francis G. Bane and his wife Mary of Walpole, Michael J. Bane and his wife Anne of Cambridge, and Alison J. Bane and her husband Morris of Brunswick, Me. Loving grandfather of 7 grandchildren. Brother of the late John, William and Joseph Bane and Margaret (Bane) Dallachie. Francis was raised in Cambridge and graduated from Cambridge High and Latin, then Boston College, class of 1951. After serving in the U.S. Air Force, he attended Loyola University School of Dentistry in Chicago class of 1958. He practiced Dentistry in Cambridge for the next 42 years, was Chairman and Treasurer of the Middlesex Dental Society, Trustee of Belmont Hill School, President and Trustee of Riverside Boat Club and Trustee of Woburn Sportsmen's Association of Bedford. Funeral from the Keefe Funeral Home, 2175 Mass Ave., NORTH CAMBRIDGE on Monday at 9 am. Funeral mass in Saint Agnes’ Church in Arlington at 10 am. Relatives and friends invited.
