Obituary for Wai Cheong Lee

Wai Cheung Lee, 47 of Arlington. Lee died unexpectedly Tuesday, May 5, 2015.
Wai C. Lee, of Arlington perished in the fire at Arizona Terrace apartments Tuesday, May 5, 2015.
Beloved son of Wah Lee, brother of Li Gan Cornwell, W. Leung Lee, and W. Yuen Lee of Leeds and London, England.
Wai received a Masters Degree in Chemistry from the University of Leeds in 1992. He began his career at the Sandoz Institute for Medical Sciences, at University College of London. His focus was neuroscience, understanding chronic pain and finding treatments. Wai led the implementation of the first automation platform leveraging the technology across assays and numerous programs.
For the past 23 years Wai worked for Novartis in London, UK and here in Cambridge, MA US. He transferred to Cambridge in 2005 where he applied his expertise in biology and robotics automation, to rapidly asses the starting points for drug discovery projects. Wai was respected by his colleagues, always there to support them as needed.
Outside of work he enjoyed cycling, skiing, badminton, photography, music, tinkering with electronics, movies and traveling. He particularly enjoyed going to New York City to explore new neighborhoods and restaurants. He was a very organized, neat and honest person who did things methodically. He loved his cat Chocho. He made great tofu, pea, corn and egg soup! He was very appreciative of his friends and support network.
Visiting hours Thursday May 14 from 10 – 12 noon at Keefe Funeral Home, 5 Chestnut St, Rt. 60 (across from St. Agnes Church) ARLINGTON. Memorial Service to follow immediately at 12 noon also at Keefe Funeral Home.
