Obituary for James C. Raffi

James C.  Raffi
Raffi, James C. 91, long time resident of Arlington, MA passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 29, 2016. Jim was a man of integrity, sincerity, and compassion and will be deeply missed by his son James Christopher, Jr. (Chris) and his wife Jacqueline and by his daughter Valerie and her husband Ron.

Upon earning an Engineering degree from Harvard University (Phi Beta Kappa) in the class of 1946, Jim went on to serve in the United States Navy. He was sent to Annapolis to continue his studies, followed by Princeton where he was commissioned as an Ensign and stationed on the USS Consolation. Jim continued to serve in the Navy Reserves following active duty where he made Lieutenant Commander.

Jim worked for many years in the family business of Raffi & Swanson, Inc., with his father and brother Charlie, where he held the positions of Technical Director and President.

Jim enjoyed golfing, boxing, swimming, and skiing, and was an avid reader. He is survived by his grandchildren Stephen, Brian, and David who have been inspired by the life of kindness and humbleness that their grandad led. He is predeceased by his beloved wife Joan to whom he was devoted and is now reunited with once again, and by his brother Charlie.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family and Keefe Funeral Home, 5 Chestnut St., Rt. 60, Arlington on Saturday from 10-11 am. Followed by a service at 11 am. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Arlington. Donations in Jim's memory may be made to the Life Care Center of Merrimack Valley, 80 Boston Road, North Billerica, MA 01862.
