Obituary for Sidney L. Smith

SMITH, Sidney L. “Sid” passed away peacefully at home with his Beloved wife Nancy C. Goodwin by his side on June 22, 2016. Loving father of Katherine Leigh of Portsmouth NH, Randall C. Smith and his wife Debbie Hendrickx - Smith of Strafford, NH, Eleanor Bates and her husband Thomas of Groton, MA and Cameron M. Leonard of Fairbanks, AK. Brother of Gordon L. Smith of Cheyenne, WY. Also survived by 10 grandchildren. Sid was a Navy junior. He lived in Arlington for over 30 years and lived in many other places. Graduate of Punahou School in Honolulu, HI, came to Boston to attend MIT, where he received two degrees in chemical engineering and PHD in Experimental Psychology from MIT. He was a longtime employee of MITRE Corp where he did research in user system interface design. He loved ballet, and sought out performances when traveling. A long time subscriber and supporter of Boston Ballet, NYC Ballet, and School of American Ballet in NYC. Above all he loved home and family. All services are private.
