Obituary for Louise T. Reynolds

Louise T. Reynolds
REYNOLDS, Louise T., a resident or Arlington for more than 60 years, died peacefully on December 2, 2016, three days after her 84th birthday. She was the beloved daughter of Henry and Louise Reynolds, by whom she was predeceased, and a cherished cousin of Louis Kuntz of Alabama. She is also survived by many dear relatives of the Kuntz and Sacca families, and several treasured friends.
Louise’s preeminent characteristics—her profound sense of humanity and a passion for the arts, visual and literary—colored by her fiercely independent spirit and outlook, led her to become the founder, publisher, and Editor-in-Chief of the the new renaissance (tnr) magazine. This work of love spanned more than 40 years and 41 issues, and had subscribers and contributors across the globe. Primarily devoted to the literary arts, tnr included the work of visual artists and offered lead articles on current national and international issues alongside fiction, poetry, essays, and reviews. The magazine received the accolades of many in the arts community and beyond: Mayor Menino of Boston issued a proclamation declaring the month of October 1999 as the “THE NEW RENAISSANCE MONTH” and in October 2009, Governor Deval Patrick of Massachusetts conferred the Governor’s Citation to Louise in recognition of the magazine’s 40th anniversary and her commitment to the literary arts.
Louise was steadfast in her devotion to publishing and celebrating the works of both known and unknown authors, poets, and artists. For this, as well as for her keen wit, her enthusiasm for preparing and enjoying good food, her zest for theatre and cinema outings, and most certainly her unique spirit—she will be remembered and celebrated fondly by all who knew her.
A Committal of Ashes will take place on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at 1pm at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Arlington.
