Rosenberg, Elliot H.
Elliot H. “Pete” Rosenberg passed on March 4, 2017. Born on January 4, 1929 in Boston, MA to Simon and Rita (Aronson) Rosenberg, Elliot grew up in Newton and Brookline, MA with his older sister, Gilda. He attended schools in Newton and Brookline and Cheshire Academy in Connecticut, followed by service in the army. After graduating from Columbia University, School of General Studies, and over the course of his career, Elliot served as president of Thomson Press in Franklin, MA, founder of RETORT, a non-business organization about providing tort equity to small businesses, and as a paralegal and case advocate for the Greater Boston ARC, working to protect the federal benefits of young adults with disabilities. Throughout his lifetime, Elliot enjoyed reading literature, poetry, non-fiction, political writing, as well as writing poetry, engaging in political discussion and debates, and taking long walks in North Cambridge and along the shores of mid-coast Maine. Elliot is survived by his wife Cynthia Jahn of Cambridge, MA, Florence (Pène) Rosenberg of Boothbay, ME, former wife and mother of his daughters, Kay (Bourgine) of Paris, France, and Barbara (Prose) of Tulsa OK, his son Kabba (Anand) of Maui, HI, five grandchildren: Ramoda, Sophia, Celeste, Tristan, and Lucas, his nieces, Carol Bugé, Jane Frueh, and Liz Davis, and nephew, Rick Harrison, and his in-laws and friends. A private memorial will be held in April. Donations may be made in his memory to the ACLU or a charity of your choice.
