DEEMYS, Judith Margaret (Peters). Born in Somerville on May 19, 1938. Passed away May 18, 2017. A longtime Arlington resident. Judy graduated from Tufts University with a degree in teaching and taught elementary school in Somerville for many years. After raising her family she returned to work in early childhood education in Arlington. Judy loved the arts, cooking, travel, and enjoyed gardening and bird watching. She also enjoyed many lasting friendships throughout the years. She is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, George, and her devoted three daughters Lexie Deemys Kidd of Bedford, Christa Deemys Cassidy of Arlington, and Joanna Deemys of Medford. In addition to her husband and daughters, she leaves four grandchildren who she adored, Jessica, Benjamin,, Olivia, and George. She is also survived by her sister Maryellen, her brother Francis and many nieces and nephews. Judy will forever be missed by all who loved her. Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours in the Keefe Funeral Home, 5 Chestnut Street, Arlington on Tuesday from 4-7 pm. Judy’s funeral service will be held at the First Parrish Unitarian Universalist Church, 630 Mass. Ave, Arlington on Wednesday at 10 am. Burial in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Arlington.
