Fontaine, Cynthia (Rich) of Arlington, MA passed away on September 22nd at home, surrounded by her family. Cindy was a supportive, devoted, and unconditionally loving mother, whose honest and fun nature both influenced and amused her three children, Scott, Lauren, and Alyssa, and her son-in-law Brian. She adored her late husband Claude and was a strong and caring partner through his journey with ALS. Cindy will be missed by her many friends from all parts of her life, who delighted in her organizational skills and generosity. She was known for looking forward to her next trip or adventure. She loved being on the Cape with her family over the course of her lifetime.

Cindy was born and raised in Arlington, MA to the late Howard and Eleanor (Hilberg) Rich. She attended Arlington Catholic High School and continued her education at UMass Amherst. Cindy worked as the Secretary to the Board of Trustees at the University of Massachusetts from 1984-1994, where she would make lifelong friendships. From 1994 to 2007, she became the Practice Manager for her late husband at Commonwealth Oral & Maxillofacial Surgical Associates in Arlington. She spent considerable time at two of her favorite spots near the beach, in Dennis on Cape Cod and in Naples, FL.

Cindy was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Claude Laramee Fontaine, in 2014. She is survived by her son Scott, her daughter Lauren, and her daughter and son-in-law Dr. Alyssa and Brian Klaus, all of Arlington. In addition, Cindy is survived by two sisters, Dr. Linda Keon-Yersak of Doylestown, PA and Dr. Nancy Rich of Johnstown, OH. She is also survived by her sister-in-law and her husband, Dr. Andree Fontaine Heinl and Dr. Robert Heinl and their children of Barrington, RI. The funeral Mass will be held at Saint Agnes Parish, 51 Medford St., Arlington, on Friday, September 29, at 10 am. Visiting hours at Keefe Funeral Home, 5 Chestnut St., Arlington, on Thursday from 4-8 pm. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations in Cindy’s memory can be made to The Children’s Room, 1210 Mass Ave., Arlington, MA 02476.
