In Memory of Edward W. Sheehan

April 2, 1939 – June 14, 2018

Ed began a career in the Insurance industry that would last over 40 years.
He worked for several major companies including Fireman’s Fund, Transamerica and Cigna, where he managed the New England Division of the Excess and Special Risk Department. Ed loved Boston, rarely complaining about the 4-hour commute. He appreciated the challenges of the industry and valued the friendships that would last a lifetime.

Ed was raised in Arlington, MA and enjoyed playing sports at Arlington High School. He was a member of the Track, High Jump and Football teams receiving awards for all. Shortly after High School, he met and married Elaine (Cimino). During their 58 years together, they raised 3 delightful daughters, Lesley, Karen and Tamera who in turn married 3 wonderful men, Stephen, Douglas and Timothy and created 8 amazing grandchildren, Jessica, Kristen, Lilly, Drew, Cole, Nicholas, Alaina and Jillian.

Ed loved life, his family and his Irish Heritage. He shared his infectious smile with everyone, especially on St. Patrick’s Day, when he and his friends would visit the Black Rose, in Boston. Ed loved sports and enjoyed watching and rooting for all Boston teams, especially the Patriots. He loved Golf, fine dining and travelling. Although Maine was his first love, Aruba and Naples, FL were equally a close second. Ed created the slogan, “Change the Taste,” as he eagerly anticipated a sweet end to a fine meal.

Ed loved people and always made time to enjoy friends and family. He remained close to his boyhood friends from elementary school throughout his life.

Ed loved the outdoors and maintained over 150 plants and bushes at his Westford home and took great pride in his vegetable and flower gardens.

Ed spent his last 7 years, in a Condo, in Stow, MA. During the last 5 years of his life, he battled Cancer and Parkinson’s Disease. He never complained as his eyesight and mobility became more limited. His team of Doctors, Therapists and Visiting Nurses, were continually amazed by his uplifted spirit.

Ed was a gentleman who will always be remembered and appreciated for his mentoring, his great sense of humor, his kindness and respect.

Thank you, Ed, for the mystery rides, our escape weekends, the unique gifts, the 5 o’clock bell and for taking me along your fascinating journey through life. You will remain in my heart forever.
