Obituary for Lawrence G. Bolt

BOLT, Lawrence George passed peacefully on March 27 2017. Larry, as he was known, was born on October 9, 1918 to the late Suzannah (Stamp) and Thomas Bolt in Somerville MA. Larry went to Somerville High School, graduating when he was 16 years old. He joined the Army in 1941 and received an Honorable Discharge in 1945 with the rank of Sargent after proudly serving his country for the duration of WWII. He met his future wife, Geraldine (Rea) Bolt and was married to “Gerry” at St. Clement Church in Somerville on July 7 1951. They were married for 62 years until her death in 2013. Larry worked at the Watertown Arsenal and obtained an Engineering degree at night while raising his family. He was hired by AVCO Corp in 1955 as an engineer for NASA programs until 1975. He worked for the City of Cambridge as a Master Electrician until his retirement in 1983. After retirement he enjoyed golf, traveling, his friends from North Cambridge, his family and his memberships in the AOH in Watertown and the Retired Men’s Club in Arlington. Larry and Gerry were parishioners at St John the Evangelist Church in North Cambridge. He loved music, singing and played the piano. He was proud of all of his children, their spouses, his 11 grandchildren and his great granddaughter. He also had a tremendous sense of humor and could make anyone laugh at any time. Larry was predeceased by 7 brothers and sisters and his wife Geraldine. He leaves his sons William and his wife Noreen Bolt of Beverly, Robert Bolt and his wife Stephanie Hurley of Peterborough NH, his daughters Elizabeth Hardy of Reading, Kathleen and her husband Tom Tarbox of North Reading, Theresa and her husband Desmond Keogh of Barnstable and his son Daniel and Marianne Bolt of Medford. He also has 11 grandchildren Sarah, Maggie and Brendan Bolt, Julia and Kristin Bolt and Elissa Whelan, Megan Labriola, Katie and Andrew Tarbox and Samantha McNeill and Nate Bolt and 1 great grandchild Lilah Labriola. Funeral from the Keefe Funeral Home, 2175 Mass Ave, NORTH CAMBRIDGE, on Monday at 9 am. Funeral mass in Saint John’s Church, Cambridge at 10 am. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours SATURDAY 2-6 pm. Burial in MA National Cemetery, Bourne, Monday 2:15 pm.
