Obituary for Beverly A. Courtney (O'Connor)

Beverly Anne (O’Connor) Courtney of Burlington, formerly of Cambridge, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on October 9, 2022.

Beverly was born and raised in Cambridge. She graduated from Cambridge High and Latin in 1955. She devoted her life to raising her daughters and son and building a home. She worked for the Archdiocese of Boston for over 30 years. During that time, she worked at North Cambridge Catholic High School where she became a second mother to many of the students who lovingly called her “Mrs. C.”

Beverly had a kind heart, great sense of humor and was an avid fan of the Boston Bruins. She was incredibly proud of her children and loved spending time with her family. She also loved all animals, including her cherished dog Ruba.

Beverly was the beloved daughter of the late Marie (Casassa) O’Connor; the devoted wife of 61 years to the late Thomas F. Courtney; mother of Sandra Russell and her husband Lenny, Dennis Courtney and his wife Eileen, Valerie Kervick and her husband David and Paula Crane and her husband Bob; loving Nana to Courtney Hooson, Caitlyn and Meghan Russell, Kara and Kimberly Courtney, Catherine, Tommy, Joseph and Elizabeth Kervick and Erica, Bobby and Fallon Crane; and great grandmother to Ellie Hooson. Beverly was the sister of Marion Moalli, Richard O’Connor and his wife Pearl, Kenneth O’Connor and his late wife Annette and the late Arnold and Fredrick O’Connor. Beverly was the sister-in-law of Gerald and Chickie Courtney, the late John Courtney and his wife Jean; Mary Collins and her late husband Daniel, Brother Kevin M. Courtney, FMSI, the late Paul Courtney and his wife Sandra and Mickey Bantz and her husband Edward. Beverly is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to Visiting Hours at Saint John's Church, 2254 Mass. Ave. in NORTH CAMBRIDGE on Wednesday, October 12th from 4-8 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the church on Thursday, October 13th at 11 am. Burial to follow in Cambridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers flower, donations may be made in Beverly’s memory to the Northeast Animal Shelter at 347 Highland Avenue, Salem, MA 01970.
