Obituary for Carol Ann Burvill (Bonugli)

BURVILL, Carol Ann (Bonugli) of Acton, formerly of Arlington, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2024. Born in Cambridge to Delia Bonugli (Biagiotti) of Arlington and the late Pellegríno Bonugli. Beloved wife of Peter Burvill of Acton. Married just shy of 50 amazing years. Loving mother of Cara Burvill of Ayer and Kyle Burvill and his wife Ashley of Wilmington. Cherished and proud ‘Nonni’ of Leo, Cooper, Luna and her fourth grandchild due in April 2024. Dear siblings of Susan Williams, Sandra Mackey and Francis Bonugli. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends.

Carol and Peter met on a blind date in high school. Although they did not make an instant connection that night at the bowling alley something better happened, they created a lifetime of happiness and a family together. Almost 60 years together to be exact. In 1971 Carol graduated from Arlington High School and began her first career working in sales. A job that suited her outgoing personality. In 1974 after some shifts in employment it seemed that a natural next step was for the two to get married. As young adults Carol and Peter could be found sailing in Maine, skiing in New Hampshire and enjoying time with family and friends.

In 1983 Carol welcomed her most treasured role as a devoted mother to Cara and in 1986 to Kyle. She is remembered as their strongest ally and advocate. She was the mother that always showed up. She is remembered fondly by all her children’s friends and their parents as the liveliest parent on the sidelines of every football game, swim meet, school play or competition. Cheering and yelling louder than everyone else in the stands. As Cara and Kyle grew older Carol was offered a job at the nursery school her had children attended. Carol worked as a nursery school teacher and treasured babysitter for numerous families at the Acton Barn Cooperative Nursery School in Acton. She was proud to be a mother and teacher, and when the time came, the role of Nonni was a natural transition. Nonni spent as much time as possible caring for, playing with and teaching her grandchildren about life. They were the loves of her life. For Carol, family was her passion and priority, and everything else could get in line after. Although she spent most of her time with her family, Carol also enjoyed art classes, cooking, golf, tennis, pickleball and socializing with her friends in Massachusetts, Maine and Florida.

Carol will be remembered for her generosity, compassion, strength, lively nature, laughter, creativity, honesty and her unwavering love and support for her family. To know Carol was to love her and to love her was to be blessed. She will be missed more than words could do justice.

Relatives and Friends are kindly invited to attend Visiting Hours on Friday, February 9th, from 4-7PM in St. Agnes Church, 30 Medford Street. Her Funeral Mass and Burial will be held privately.
