David Michael Ward, lifelong resident of Somerville, MA, passed away quietly on April 30, 2020 after a brief illness. David was the beloved brother of Kathleen Paige and husband David Gloriant of Somerville. Proud Uncle of Kelly Andrick of Somerville, Sean and Lisa Paige of Andover. Great Uncle of Lilith Bean of Boston, Michael Andrick of Greenfield, Evan, Joshua (USMC), Mitchell (Army National Guard),and Dylan Paige of Andover. David was preceded by parents Francis J. and Elvira (Breen) Ward. David entered the US Navy in 1960, upon graduation from North Cambridge Catholic High School, where he proudly served his country for 8 years. His most memorable experiences were his time spent in Reykjavík, Iceland where he served as a firefighter and his time on the USS Essex where he was involved with the Apollo 7 recovery mission. His career in the Navy was cut short by the passing of his father when David returned to Somerville to provide support for his mother. His professional career spanned several decades and he was most proud of his time at Brown Brothers Harriman, (Boston Office) where he became a member of the Quarter Century Club, upon his retirement in 2009.
David had a deep devotion and bond with his pets. He lovingly cared for his cats and dogs over his entire life;
with the exception of his time in the Navy, he always had his 4 legged companions nearby.
