Edmund “Sonny” Capasso
“We tend to dying and heel your soles”
Edmund “Sonny" Capasso was born on November 19, 1933. He passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2023, at the age of 89. He died of natural causes.
Sonny was a medic in the Army who served in the Korean War. When he returned home, he joined his father Italo and brother Biagio working at the family shoe repair shop, Cappy’s Shoe Repair, in Harvard Square. He “tend[ed] to dying and heel[ed the] soles” of Cambridge until he retired in 2004.
Sonny was the second youngest of 13 children in big Italian family! His favorite times were spent surrounded by family! He was the husband of the late Colleen Capasso and is survived by his four children; Paul Capasso of Virginia, William Capasso of Watertown, Elena Capasso Ver Planck of Winchester, and Victoria Capasso Brown of Medford. He has 12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
We will celebrate Sonny’s life on Saturday, September 16th from 10 – 11:30 am at Keefe Funeral Home in Arlington, where friends and family are invited to stop by. The burial will be private.
