Obituary for Edward T. Downing
DOWNING, Edward Thomas, of Arlington, Burlington, and Woburn passed away peacefully on March 23, 2023.
Beloved husband of the late Eta M (Hayes) Downing, with whom he shared 54 years of marriage. He is survived by his daughters Kathleen and her husband Robert Latshaw Jr. of Franklin; Eileen and her husband Brian Meaney of Framingham, and son Thomas of Chelmsford. Also survived by his beloved grandchildren Sinead Slabine and Brian Meaney, and Michael and Tim Latshaw. Devoted son of the late Thomas and Winefred Downing, brother to the late Mary Esther and Genevieve Downing, also survived by many dear cousins and friends.
Ed proudly served in the U.S. Army 1st Armored Division, as a Corporal during the Korean Conflict. He was retired from John Hancock Financial Services. He attended Bentley School of Finance prior to earning an Accounting degree from Northeastern University. He was also a graduate of Suffolk Law School. He was a member of the Massachusetts Bar, a member of the Internal Auditors Association, and was a certified Internal Auditor.
Ed loved sports, reading, movies, music and attending many wonderful social events at New Horizons Choate.
The internment is private.
