Obituary for Gay Lynn Cartier (Goodrich)

Gay Lynn Cartier (Goodrich) passed away peacefully in the presence of her loving family on April 14th, 2023, at the age of 66. She was a remarkable woman who left an indelible mark on the lives of those who knew and loved her. After overcoming metastatic breast cancer during the Covid pandemic in 2020, her next battle was with severe pulmonary hypertension which she fought with grace, all while selflessly providing home care for her disabled mother-in-law.

Gay Lynn was born on March 12, 1957, in Amesbury, MA, to George and Lois Goodrich. She grew up in a loving family with her brothers Denny, Gene and Gregg. Gay Lynn met her future husband, Mark, in grade school, and they were married for 44 wonderful years. GayLynn and Mark had three children, Chad, Cory and Amber. She was a dedicated mother who always put her children first. She was immensely proud of her children’s achievements and cherished every moment spent with them. Sadly, GayLynn was heartbroken by the passing of her adoring daughter Amber on June 10, 2022.

She had 4 grandchildren, Molli, Denny, Marley and Emery. Her grandchildren were the light of her life and loved nothing more than spending time and showering them with affection. She will always be remembered as a loving grandmother who brought happiness to their lives.

She had a creative spirit and loved to use her talents with her children and grandchildren. She had an infectious smile and laugh that would fill the room and was loved by everyone who met her. She enjoyed hiking, skating, playing softball, cornhole, tennis, and loved to swim and boat at the family camp on Province Lake in Wakefield, NH. Gay Lynn loved to watch her children and grandchildren participate in all sorts of activities and was always there to support them.

Gay Lynn was a caring and compassionate person who was always putting others needs first. After raising her children at home, she then began her professional career in the healthcare industry. She also volunteered to be an aid for disabled children in the public school system, and for several non-profit organizations.

Gay Lynn is survived by her husband Mark, sons Chad and Cory, daughters-in-law Kristina and Lauren, son-in-law Murphy Aquaro, grandchildren Molli, Denny, Marley, Emery, her mother-in-law Mary R. Cartier, her brothers Gene and Gregg, sisters-in law Michele and Diane as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, co-workers, and neighbors. She was predeceased by her parents George and Lois Goodrich, brother George (Denny),her daughter Amber Aquaro (Cartier), daughter-in law Jessica Cartier (Ravizza) and father-in law Gilbert R Cartier.

Her passing has left a void in the hearts of everyone who knew her. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at the First Congregational Church of Ossipee, 50 NH 16B Center Ossipee, NH, at 10 am. Gay Lynn will be deeply missed but never forgotten, as her spirit lives on in the hearts of those she touched.
