Obituary for Henry J. Survilas

Henry John Survilas passed on January 16th, 2020. .

As an adult, he was a lifelong resident of Arlington, MA but was born and spent his childhood in Cambridge, MA.

He was a great dad to Diane Wilkins and Carol Gauthier and when they moved to start their families he and his wife loved to travel to see them. He and his wife, Dorothea who passed in 2019, travelled extensively throughout those retirement years. Whenever there was a world tragedy we always had to ask “where is Mom and Dad?” He did volunteer work, enjoyed golfing, and played in many cribbage tournaments in his spare time.

He was employed at the former Arthur D. Little in Cambridge, MA up until his retirement in 1982.

Arthur D. Little gave him so many great experiences and opportunities to use his photography skills both in the states and abroad. Summers were always fun and exciting when he would pack up the family and drive to New Mexico for work. He gave his children the best gift a dad could give his family, which was an appreciation America and all it’s glory with those frequent car trips made to the Southwest.

He was very social and enjoyed having relatives over for summer barbecues, and friends over for card games and get together He and Dorothea were always going to Polka dances and Polka-brations.

He was always destined to be retired and he thoroughly enjoyed that retirement time. He reveled in being “Papa” to Steven & Kyle Wilkins and Christopher & Alynn Gauthier. He enjoyed them as babies to them having babies, and everything in the middle. He was great-grandfather to: Savannah & Jordan Wilkins, Lena & Natalia Gauthier and Ella & Auldren Czako.

He was his own best advocate. He will be dearly missed.
