Obituary for James B. Sickles
James B. Sickles, 74, of Chandler, Arizona, passed away in the company of his family on December 23, 2019. He leaves behind his loving wife of 42 years, Barbara (Kelley) Sickles and their two children, daughter Jodi and her husband Robert of Gilbert, Arizona, and son Cameron and his wife Marci of Burlington, Massachusetts. Jim also is survived by his two loving grandchildren, Trevor of Arizona, and Brianna of Massachusetts.
Jim was born on May 29, 1945 in Somerville, Massachusetts to William and Barbara "Rusty" (Payne) Sickles. Jim was preceded in death by his sister Judith Schultz of Arlington, Massachusetts. He is survived by his brothers, William and his wife Katherine of Tewksbury, Massachusetts and Robert and his late wife Lynne, of Stoneham, Massachusetts, as well as many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Jim worked in the banking industry for most of his adult life, finishing his career off at Everett CO-OP before moving to Gilbert, Arizona in the early 2000's. Although Jim's profession required a “suit and tie,” his true passion in life was being a clown (literally and figuratively). Jim spent over 30 years with the Aleppo Shrine clown unit in Wilmington, Massachusetts, where he devoted countless hours to putting smiles on the faces of children. He spent many years as president of the Northeast Shrine Clown Institute teaching other Shrine members on how to perfect the craft of being a clown all to benefit the Shriners Hospitals for children. Along with the Shriners, Jim was very active in his Masonic Lodge as well as local Chamber of Commerce and Rotary Clubs.
For all those who truly knew Jim, he was quite the character; the more he gave you a hard time, the more you knew how much he loved you. He had a charm and charisma that drew people in. He was loved and respected by all that met him.
Jim made the world a better place for the time he was with us, from having his family who he loved dearly to his countless time volunteering for the Shriners Hospitals. He will truly be missed.
