Obituary for James F. "Jim" Hall

James Francis Hall was born in Yonkers, NY, April 9, 1934. He lived most of his life in North Cambridge and passed away there on May 30, 2023 after a short illness. He attended Saint John's Primary and graduated from the Rindge School. He enlisted in the US Army in 1953 and served a tour in Germany, during the Korean Conflict. After the military, Jim returned to life in North Cambridge and stayed for good.

Jim grew up on Rice Street in a two-family house of Conroy's and Hall's - 14 kids in all and there was never a bad word said between them. So many wonderful memories and lifelong friendships. Days spent swimming in Jerry's Pit, Military parades led by General MacArthur down Mass Ave, and seeing The Wizard of Oz when it first came out in Porter Square are just some of the highlights.

Jim worked many years as a mover for Jacques St. Armant Allied Vans. He was an inspiration to all of us, choosing to live a stress-free life. He walked everywhere - or took the bus. Jim was a fitness buff, long before it was fashionable. He belonged to two gyms, one in Arlington and one in Porter Square. Often, he would hit them both on the same day. He also enjoyed books, movies and videos from his weekly library visits, often reserved for him by his good friend, Beth Tibbets.

He was known to grab the train in Porter Square to South Station and on to New York. He would show up at his sister Jean and brother-in-law Terry's house in Bayside, Queens, wearing his Bermuda shorts, white T Shirt, cowboy hat and transistor radio - tuned into the Red Sox and Yankee games.

He was a wonderful family man. Always showing up for his nieces and nephews, mother and his Aunt Margaret. Great memories of sledding with Jim, good times at Hampton Beach, Cape Cod, the Adirondacks, the Jersey Shore and numerous lazy afternoons and holiday celebrations.

Jim leaves behind his sister Jean Marie Kenzik and her husband Terry of Port Saint Lucie, FL. His nephew John Hall and wife Peggy of Easton, MA, nieces Kim Bedford and husband Bill of Falmouth, MA, Cindy Manning and husband John of Richmond, VA, Lisa Gore and her husband Hayden of San Diego, CA, Karyl Hall of Maynard, MA, and honorary niece Marielle Beauchimen Wintersteen of Littleton, MA. Twelve great nephews and nieces and 3 great, great nephews and a niece. He is predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Elizabeth Hall and his two brothers, John and Joseph Hall.

Relatives and friend are invited to attend Visiting Hours from the Keefe Funeral Home, 2175 Mass Ave, NORTH CAMBRIDGE on Thursday, July 6th from 4-7PM. A Prayer Service will be held in the Funeral Home at 6:30PM. Burial will follow on Friday, July 7th at 12:45 in the MA National Cemetery in Bourne. Luncheon to follow.
