RITA, James P., a lifelong resident of Cambridge, passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family, on July 7, 2022 at the age of 86. Beloved husband of the late Alice L. (Conroy). Loving father of James M. and his wife Susan of Billerica, and Philip and his wife Debbie of Cambridge. Proud ‘Grampy’ of Danielle, James T. and Deana Rita. Devoted Brother of Rosemarie Girouard of Watertown and her late husband S/Sgt. Albert, Jeanne Santacroce and her husband Benedict of Newton, and Alberta Standel of Milford NH and her husband Harry. Dear brother in law of Mary Hogan of Lexington, Ann Wasko and her late husband Paul of Lexington, Fred Conroy and wife Katherine of Lexington, Barbara Conroy and late husband John Conroy of Woburn, and the late Barbara Hamilton and husband Joseph, Reverend Philip Conroy, and Thomas Conroy. Also survived by his companion Carolyn Bunyon of Belmont, many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, relatives and dear friends. Jimmy retired in 2005 from the City of Cambridge, Facilities Director. Longtime parishioner and volunteer at St. John’s Church in North Cambridge. Late Army and Marine Corps Veteran. Visiting Hours will be held on Tuesday, July 12th from 4-7PM in St. John's Church, 2254 Mass Ave., in NORTH CAMBRIDGE. All attendees are kindly asked to enter through the Mass Ave. doors. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. John's on Wednesday, July 13th at 11am. Burial will be Private.
