Obituary for Jeffrey D. Miller
Jeffrey Douglas Miller, age 69, died at his home in Cambridge, Massachusetts on Saturday July 22, 2023. Jeff is survived by his grandson Maxwell Sean Alexander, his ex-wife Cheryl Willis and her husband James Willis, and his husband’s children Brett Auclaire and Sam Avrett.
Born in 1954, Jeff attended Augusta High School in Kansas and was a singer and musician for several local bands in the Wichita area in the late 1970s into the 1980s. Jeff married Cheryl Willis in 1976 and had a son Sean Quincy Miller the following year and helped raise Sean during the 1980s with his partner Mike Kelly.
In 1986, Jeff achieved a PhD in organic chemistry at Wichita State University, taught at Butler County Community College, and then in 1997 moved to Massachusetts to work at ABC Labs and Advanced Biosciences (AB Sciex) until he retired in 2019. During the past 20 years, Jeff was married to Eugene Avrett and lived near Harvard Square in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

You and your family and friends are invited to an outdoor celebration of life in memory of Jeff Miller. There will be live music, an open bar, and sweets and hors d'oeuvres (Asian-fusion, Jeff's favorite!). Children are most welcome! Please come celebrate the life of this man - a scientist, musician, and artist who cherished his friends and family.
