Obituary for John E. Weiss
WEISS, John E., Of Arlington, passed peacefully on September 19, 2020. Beloved husband of the late Nurit Landau Weiss. Loving father of Benjamin of Arlington, Emily Weiss and her husband Liam Billingham of CA, and Rebecca Weiss of NY. Proud ‘grandpa’ of Ayla. Dear brother of Steven Weiss of Arlington, Ellen Allwood of NH, Amy SteCroix of NH, Joanne Curran of NH, and the late Russell Weiss. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
John was first a mathematician, and his love of math led to many late nights happily pouring over his research. But he also appreciated literature, film, and folk music, and, after his decline, when he could no longer work, the music that he had listened to during the earlier years of his life, like Leonard Cohen, and the films that he had watched with his late wife, like those of Eric Rohmer, provided great comfort.
A Private Burial will be held in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Arlington.
