Bennett, Joyce D. (Tierney) of Winchester, formerly of Everett and Dorchester, passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family and with long-time partner Ronnie Davies by her side on June 12, 2022. She was 76 years old. She was predeceased by her loving parents Earl Kimball Tierney and Anna Eleanor Tierney. Beloved mother of David Bennett and his wife Nikki of Dracut, Richard Bennett and his wife Lisa of Revere, and Deborah Mattuchio and her husband Robert of Derry, NH. She is also survived by her 8 devoted grandchildren, Megan(Ben)Devonshire, Jessica(Dan)Fitzgerald, Brian Falzone, Jack Bennett, Sarah Bennett, Faith Bennett, Robert Mattuchio, and Domenic Mattuchio, and a sweet great-grandson that she adored, Aiden Fitzgerald. She is also survived by her brother David Tierney, sister Theresa Forbes, and sister Laura Spetrini, as well as many nieces and nephews.


Joyce worked in the cafeteria at Harvard University until her retirement. She enjoyed her years there and always had stories about the wonderful students she encountered in her work.


Joyce had an absolute joy for life and traveling that she was always eager to share with her family. She loved road trips and seeing as much of the United States as possible with her long time partner Ronnie. She was a big country music fan and visited Nashville many times over the years. She had a great sense of humor and loved to make people laugh.

Arlington, MA on Thursday, June 16th, 2022 from 4:00pm - 7:00pm. A private memorial service is planned for a later date.
