Obituary for Kathleen A. Green (O'Donnell)

Kathleen A. (O'Donnell) Green, age 76, of Wellesley, MA, passed away on January 30, 2024 with her daughter by her side. Born in Medford, Kathleen was the devoted wife of the late Michael T. Green.

Kathleen was born on March 11th 1947 to Edmund J. O’Donnell and Louise (Welch) O’Donnell in Medford, MA. After graduating from Medford High School Kathleen went on to graduate from Fisher Junior College where she obtained her Associates Degree. Kathleen went on to have a career in administration and also became the Senior Director of Medical billing at HealthSouth.

Kathy was always proud to say that she fostered many children in her home while her own kids were growing up. She was known to be selfless and caring. She was as loving and kind to the foster children as she was to her own children. Kathy followed this passion all the way into her 60’s when she became a Court Appointed Special Advocate for the Department of Children and Families. Kathy believed that all children should have a voice. She was a strong force when working to protect their rights. One of the young women that she fostered came back and found her 30 years later to thank her for changing her life and teaching her what it meant to be “loved”.

Nothing was dearer to Kathy than her family and friends. Being a grandmother was one of Kathy’s greatest joys in life. She loved her granddaughter and grandson immensely as they did her. She will be sorely missed and remembered as someone who put others first, was always up for listening and offering advice to her friends when needed. As well as an outstanding mother and friend.

Kathy was preceded in death by her husband Michael T. Green, and survived by her daughter and son; Jennifer Racioppi of Wellesley, MA and Jordan Green of Hudson, NH; grandchildren, Sebastian Moore and Grace Racioppi Barker, of Wellesley; sister Maureen (O’Donnell) Malatesta of Stoneham; and nephews, Eric Malatesta of Medford, Keith Malatesta of Stoneham and niece, Emily Malatesta of Stoneham and their families.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, March 2nd at St. Agnus Church in Arlington, MA at 11:30 AM. To send a condolence please visit www.keefefuneralhome.com
