Obituary for Margaret A. "Peggy" Palange

Margaret Ann Palange
December 11, 1942 to July 27, 2020

Margaret (Peggy) Ann Palange of Lynn MA passed away on July 27, 2020 at the age of 77.

Peggy was born in Atlanta, GA on December 11, 1942, the first child of Ralph (Raffaele) Carmen Palange and Margaret Virginia (Chisolm) Palange. Peggy was the sister of Stephen Ralph Palange and the aunt of Victoria Newcomb and Isabella Palange.

Peggy’s parents and brother predeceased her.

Peggy grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio, graduating from McNicholas High School in 1960 and the University of Cincinnati. Peggy was an avid photographer, and while at UC, Peggy documented the career of Neil Armstrong, as a professor (1971 to 1979.) Peggy’s photos are featured on the University of Cincinnati Neil Armstrong Commemorative Website and live in the university’s archives. Her photos are also in books about Neil Armstrong registered with the Library of Congress. Peggy worked for the Cincinnati Enquirer during the 1970’s as a photojournalist.

Peggy had previously worked at Posternak, Blankstein & Lund, LLP, a law firm in Boston, as a Legal Assistant.

Peggy’s ancestors came from the mountain town of Roccasicura, Italy. Her father, Ralph, was born there and traveled to the U.S. at the age of eight. After Ralph graduated from Tufts and Harvard, his work as a commissioned officer for the U.S. government in public health offered Peggy and her family the opportunity to travel and experience many adventures together.

As with most Italian families, Peggy had a large network of aunts, uncles, and cousins whom she stayed connected with. A remarkable conversationalist, Peggy was always keenly interested in talking with others. She enjoyed times spent with family at annual picnics, dinners and holiday events.

Peggy will be dearly missed. Peggy was passionate about caring for animals. Donations in her name can be made to the New England Animal Rescue, 1090 Washington St, Hanover MA 02339.
