Obituary for Maria "Grace" Tammaro

Maria Grazia “Grace” Del Vecchio Tammaro, 93, of Arlington MA passed away peacefully at home on December 24.

Grace was the wife of the late Luigi Tammaro and the beloved mother of Leonard Tammaro and his wife Marion of Raynham and Bridget Tammaro Testa and her husband Francesco of Arlington. She was Grandma-Grace to four grandchildren and their spouses, Lisa (Tammaro) and Justin Kiefer, Christina (Tammaro) and Alexander Karangioze, Luigi and Lynsey Testa, and Michelle (Tammaro) and Geno Salvatore. She was blessed to witness the birth of nine great grandchildren; Lauren, Ryan, Etta Jo, Milo, Elsie, Zoe, Owen, Riley and Birdie. They were the brightest lights of her life, even in her final days she could recite each of their names.

Born in San Sossio, Avellino, Italy, Grace was the daughter of the late Michele and Brigida Del Vecchio. With her parents, she immigrated to the United States in 1947 and married in 1949, settling into her new life in the North End of Boston. Grace, Luigi and their two children moved to Arlington in 1959.

Grace dedicated her life to raising her family. She was generous to all, especially to those in need. An amazing cook and baker, she was always lending her talent to preparing meals for friends and family and baking endless trays of Italian cookies for all occasions. Her other hobby was crocheting and through the years made hundreds of blankets for newlyweds and new babies.

Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours at the Keefe Funeral Home, 5 Chestnut St., ARLINGTON on Monday from 3-6 pm. Followed by her funeral mass on Tuesday in Saint Agnes' Church at 10 am. Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Arlington.
