Obituary for Mary A. Keating (Ahearn)

Keating, Mary A. (Ahearn) in Winchester, of Arlington, formerly of Lexington, March 20, 2023 at the age of 97. Beloved wife of the late John D. Keating. Loving mother of Janis Wisniewski (husband Paul) of Arlington; Judy Keating (husband Harry Ringermacher) of Delanson, NY; Jim Keating of Somerville; and was predeceased by her daughter Kathleen Keating (husband Scott Gilbert) of Lexington; as well as cherished mother-in-law to Scott and Stephanie Littel Gilbert. She was the devoted grandmother of Marty Wisniewski and Connor Gilbert.
She was the youngest daughter of Martin T. and Bridget A. Ahearn and was predeceased by her siblings Margaret R. Ahearn of Arlington; John M. Ahearn of Southington, CT; Catherine A. O’Connor of Arlington; and Martin R. Ahearn of Rockport. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, their children and grandchildren, and beloved Goddaughter Carol Doherty.
She was a graduate of Arlington High School and the Katharine Gibbs School where she learned to write shorthand and type over 95 words per minute. She worked many interesting jobs as a legal secretary, executive assistant and editor, including Fish & Richardson, the Lincoln Filene Center for Citizenship and Public Affairs at Tufts University, and for Dr. Carl Sagan at the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory (temp.) She and John loved travel and entertaining.
Funeral from the Keefe Funeral Home, 5 Chestnut St. (Rt. 60, adjacent to St. Agnes Church), ARLINGTON. Visiting Hours 4pm to 7pm Friday, March 24th. Funeral Mass at Saint Eulalia Parish, 50 Ridge St. Winchester, at 10am Saturday, March 25th, and live streamed from parish website.
