Obituary for Mary L. "Mary Lou" McBride
McBride, Mary Lou (Greco) of Holyoke, MA and Scituate, MA, on September 14th, 2023, passed away peacefully at the age of 84. She spent her final waking moments smiling and holding the hands of her loving sister Charlene and niece Cara. Mary Lou was predeceased by her lifelong companion Dr. Nicholas J. Greco (2021), their beloved daughter Regina L. “Gina” Olson (2015), and her brother James T. McBride (2006).
Born in Hazleton, PA and raised in Baltimore, MD, Mary Lou spent her young adult years in Arlington, MA before settling in Holyoke with her partner Nick for over 40 years. Mary Lou worked for many years as a medical assistant at Bay State Hospital. Upon retirement, she and Nick spent their golden years on a beautiful bluff overlooking the ocean in Humarock, MA.
Mary Lou was a doting mother, a caring aunt, and an empathetic friend. She had an incredible laugh, gave great hugs, loved traveling to Italy, telling stories, and was chronically late for family gatherings. Mary Lou is survived by her sister Charlene McBride Barranco and a host of adoring nieces, nephews and friends.
Her funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Agnes Church, 30 Medford Street, Arlington, Friday, September 22nd at 11:30am. Please go directly to the church. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Arlington. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
