Obituary for Michael K. Boudreau

Michael Kurt-Wilken Boudreau, age 55, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday evening, February 21, 2021. He had a big, kind heart and made friends from all walks of life wherever he went. It was his heart that suddenly failed him, and sadly, it could not be restarted.
Mike was born at Andrews Air Force Base, now Joint Base Andrews, on April 13, 1965, and grew up in Clinton, Maryland, where he met his wife of 24 years, Helen, in high school. With his outgoing personality and sincere interest in people, he seemed to be friends with most people in town. As a teen, he took a job at the Safeway grocery store and then worked his way through college, eventually finishing his Bachelors’ degree in Information Technology at UConn. He spent many years working in IT as a network engineer, but his favorite job of all time was being proud Papa to his son David. The love Mike had for David was infinite, and he shared his wisdom and values to raise a kind, hard-working young man.
Mike appreciated and loved the simple things in life. A good cup of coffee, a sunny day, a job well done. He enjoyed watching the birds and backyard critters eating the food he put out for them each day. He loved nature, lighthouses, his Harley Davidson motorcycle, photography, owls, figuring out how to fix things, and playing host to visiting family and friends. He took great joy in making itineraries of things to see and do, customized to each guest’s interests. He loved flowers, especially sunflowers. Most of all, he loved his family and friends. He showed his love through all the things he would do every day to take care of those he loved.
Mike was a loving and devoted husband. He did everything possible to support Helen’s career, embracing five corporate relocations along the way and being more than equal partner in raising their son. The last relocation, to Lexington, MA, was the best, and Mike fell in love with New England. The plan was to use it as home base for travel and adventure for decades to come, but now it will become his final resting place.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald “Bud” Boudreau and Christine Luhmann Boudreau, and his in-laws, William and Barbara Brown. He is survived by his wife, Helen and son David. He is also survived by his sister, Stephanie Boudreau Lesjak, her husband, Chris Lesjak, and their children, Colton, Adrianna and Sophia, as well as many Aunts, Uncles and cousins in Germany and the US, and friends too numerous to count.
Visiting hours will be held at Keefe Funeral Home in Arlington, MA, on Friday, February 26th, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. The burial will be held for family and close friends on Saturday, February 27th at 11:00 am in Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge, MA. All attendees are required to wear masks and practice social distancing.
