Obituary for Patricia L. Barott (Leyden)

Mrs. Patricia “Pat” Barott passed away peacefully on January 8th at the age of 88. Born Patricia Leyden on September 12th, 1931 in Syracuse, New York, she was the daughter of the late Madeline Pellanz and John T. Leyden. She graduated from Cornell University where she was a member of the Delta Gamma sorority and received her degree in industrial and labor relations.

Pat married Lt. Col. William C. “Chance” Barott upon his graduation from West Point in 1952. The next 14 years were marked by the births of their five children and many relocations as his service to country required. Pat was widowed in 1966 when Chance was killed in action during the Vietnam War. Upon his death, she returned to Syracuse and dedicated her life to raising their young children with love and strength.

She is survived by each of them: William E. Barott and wife Pamela of Atlanta, GA; Madeline Barott of Cambridge, MA; Cynthia Fox and husband Eric of Boston, MA; John L. Barott of Canandaigua, NY; Suzan Friedberg and husband Barry of New York, NY. She also leaves behind nine loving grandchildren.
A private ceremony will be held to celebrate Pat’s life later this month in Cambridge, Massachusetts. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Pat’s memory to the Wounded Warrior Project at support.woundedwarriorproject.org/donate. Condolences may be sent to 211 Wren Street, West Roxbury, MA 02132.
