Obituary for Remy Prevost

Remy Prevost was born on January 20, 1933 in Lavallé de Jacmel, Haiti, to Adelcia Philogène and Ilfebre Prevost. He was the younger brother of Ores Prevost, and older brother to Bernadette, Catherine, Ilne, and Ernest Prevost. He was married to Helène Jean-Marie (deceased) for 30 years from September 1962 until her death in December 1992. Love can be easily expressed during those times “in health.” But, if there was ever a doubt of how to love “in sickness”, it was exemplified by Remy’s caring of his wife throughout her illness, and ultimate death.
Remy was lovingly referred to by all as “Ton Remy”.

Ton Remy studied shoemaking in Haiti. And, upon his arrival to the U.S., went to work at The Fenton Shoe Company in Cambridge, MA. This was followed by work at Pfizer, where he was a loyal employee for 25 years until his retirement in 1994.

Age and retirement, however, did not slow Ton Remy down. He loved interacting with his clan of a family, and was present at every baptism, birthday, wedding, Christmas, and Thanksgiving celebration. If anyone were to look in the dictionary under “social butterfly”, there would surely be a photo of him under it as definition.
Ton Remy was loved by all, but had especially close relationships with, Felix Charles (deceased), Charles Jean Baptiste (deceased), Maurice Lebrun, and Nina Clement. So strong was his love of family that he never allowed the death of his wife Helène to ever sever the ties which he had with her sisters Lucia Jocelyn, and Petionne Jean-Marie, or his sister-in-law Camy Jean-Mary, whose hearts also break with grief over his loss.

He leaves behind his siblings, and in particular his brother Ores, his best friend, with whom he spoken on a daily basis. He is survived by his children Mario Prevost, Marie Helène Prevost, and Remy Robert Prevost, daughter-in-law Blondine Prevost, his grandchildren Amanda Ferrara, Shawn Haenicke-Prevost, Ena Prevost, Helen Prevost, and great-grandaughter Reya Ferrara. He is also survived by Jean-Charles Boursiquot, Gerard Torchon, Kenel Lakrette, and Jimmy Prevost, all of whom he considered also his sons.

Ton Remy will be mourned by his great circle of friends, family members, as well as an enormous band of nephews and nieces from the families of Boursiquot, Clement, Jean-Georges, Jean-Marie, Jocelyn, Lauture, Payen, Plonqué, Prevost, Tondreau, Ridoré, and Valetin.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Dr. Paul Mathew and his Oncology Team, whom they credit for extending Ton Remy’s life for an incredible four and a half years, as well as the Infusion Team on 8 North, and Nurses Susan Moheby and Maura McMahon.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Ton Remy’s memory can be made to The Prostate Cancer Research Fund at Tufts Medical Center with the following options: Online at giving.tuftsmedicalcenter.org/give, or Call (617)636-7656 to make a credit card donation, or Mail a check to Tufts Medical Center, 800 Washington St, #231, Boston, MA 02111.
