Born in Cambridge, MA in November of 1932 to the late Daniel Wade and Helen (Clifford) Wade. Beloved husband of 57 years to the late Barbara A. (Galpin) Wade. He leaves behind his son Stephen Wade and his wife Usha of Ledyard, CT, daughter Karen Hennessy and her husband David of West Boylston, MA, and daughter Paula Jessen and her husband Mark of Colebrook, CT. Devoted grandfather of David, Deirdre, and Nora Hennessy, and Katharine and Sarah Jessen. Dear brother of the late Gertrude Rigor da Eva of Brookline, MA. Also survived by a loving extended family. He became CFO or CEO of several companies, including H.F. Livermore in Boston, Industrial Cab Company in Essex, Computer Systems Engineering and Wills and Wade, LLC, both in Burlington, and Wetmore Company, Inc. in Woburn.

Bill was an avid and accomplished golfer. As a young man and Wade family club member, he played golf at the Hatherly Country Club in Scituate, MA. He was successful and respected as a competitor in leagues and events all around New England, and played once in the National Senior Amateur Hall of Fame Golf Tournament in High Point, NC.

His contribution to a generation of young people at St. Agnes Parish is immeasurable. He managed St. Agnes CYO Band of Arlington for 10 years beginning in the 1970s, at a time when the circuit of bands in the Archdiocese of Boston was at its height. Being involved in this band was a defining event in the lives of hundreds of young men and women and their families.

Bill and his wife Barbara were long-time patrons of the arts. They held a subscription to the Boston Symphony Orchestra for decades. Bill served as a page for the BSO as a teenager, where he heard Serge Koussevitzky speak from the stage in Symphony Hall at his last concert in 1949. He was in attendance when Erich Leinsdorf announced John Kennedy’s death at a Friday afternoon performance in November of 1963. The last performance Bill attended at Symphony Hall was on April 19, 2014, at which the Front of House manager offered him his congratulations and a signed note from some orchestra members.
