Obituary for William 'Kevin' Looney

LOONEY, William ‘Kevin’, of Andover, formerly of Arlington passed away suddenly on February 11, 2024. Kevin was born in Dorchester, MA, the son of the late William H. and Mary (Fortune) Looney. He was the beloved husband of the late Elizabeth E. (Crowley), loving father of Bill Looney of Arlington, Shannon Looney of Somerville, James Looney of Arlington and longtime companion of Nancy Rogers of Andover, formerly Belmont. Kevin is also survived by several nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends.

Kevin was a graduate of Notre Dame High School, Cambridge, and Suffolk University, Boston, and was an Army National Guard Vietnam Era Veteran. In 1974, he was hired as the Building Services Manager for Harvard Community Health Plan’s Cambridge Center, as they launched their organization with the first building managed as a dedicated health care facility. Kevin enjoyed a 24 year career with HCHP and Harvard Pilgrim Health Care as he helped to open the Medford Center, then transferred to the Fenway Complex (formerly the S.S. Pierce Company) and HPHC’s Kenmore Center. He concluded his facilities management career serving for 16 years as the Building Services Manager for the Town of Belmont.

Visiting Hours will be held from the Keefe Funeral Home, 5 Chestnut Street, ARLINGTON, on Monday February 19th from 4-7PM. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Agnes Church, 30 Medford Street, Arlington on Tuesday, February 20th at 11:30AM. Burial and Military Honors will follow in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Arlington.
