Obituary for William S. Byrne

William Byrne died on January 4th in Madison, Wisconsin where he was enrolled at the University. Born on April 25, 1996, Will grew up in Boston graduating from The Boston Latin School in 2014 and later attended both the University of Wisconsin and Northwestern University. While at Northwestern, he founded two start-ups and fostered his early adopter interests in cryptocurrency. He had a flair for investment management and broad interests in math, computer science and business economics. Smart, funny and always ready with a well researched opinion, Will was an avid learner, a deep thinker and a kind and loving young man. He is survived by his parents, Pamela McKinney and Thomas Byrne, his loving partner Laina Fancher, his Grandfather Peter McKinney and a large, grieving extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Burial will be at Mount Auburn Cemetery attended by a small family group. A memorial service in celebration of his life is planned for later in the year. Donations may be made in Will’s memory to: More Than Words (www.mtwyouth.org), a nonprofit social enterprise that empowers young adults who are in the foster care system, court-involved, homeless, or out of school to take charge of their lives by taking charge of a business.
