Obituary for William V. Hill

William (Bill) Vincent Hill, born July 1, 1942, 81 of Cambridge, MA passed away at home Wednesday morning. Bill is the son of the late William J. Hill and Helen Veronica (Vera) Hill (Burke). Cherished husband and best friend of his loving wife of 60 years, Mary C. Hill (Falls) Loving and devoted father to Valerie Corapi and husband Michael of Waltham: Daniel Hill and his wife Sandy of Ayer: Thomas Hill and his wife Kristen of Harwich and Laura Marifiote and her husband Robert of Framingham. Bill loved spending time with his adoring grandchildren: Matthew, Andrew, Ashley, Brian, Katelyn, Nicole, Jessica, Jarrod and Derek along with two great grandchildren Beckett and Brooks.

Bill was a proud Cantabrigian having grown up on Seagrave Rd. in North Cambridge, attending Cambridge High and Latin School (CHLS) and devoting 45+ years coaching the Dodgers in the West Cambridge Little League where he and his teams won several Mayor’s Cups and League titles. It’s entirely possible you may have seen Bill having a practice up the field with two or three members of his team in February whether there was snow on the field or not. His great passion was his family traveling near and far to attend his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events, graduations, recitals, baptisms, family cookouts, confirmations, holiday gatherings etc. If there was something going on you could be sure Bill & Mary would be in attendance. Bill left an indelible impression on hundreds of youths and parents who got to know him through Little League. He was a humble, caring, thoughtful person who was quick to laugh (often with a reference to a Seinfeld episode) and always put others before himself. His affable nature was his legacy.

Bill loved all Boston sports team particularly the Red Sox and Patriots, riding their highs and lows through the years. Bill and Mary would spend time with family and friends at their home in Chatham, MA also enjoying time away up in Ogunquit, ME.
