Obituary for George A. Smith

George  A.  Smith
George A. Smith, of Medford, MA, formerly of Cambridge, MA, died at the Courtyard Nursing Center on February 15, 2014. Born in Cambridge, MA on May 16, 1927 to the late Edward and Gladys (Moge) Smith, he was 86. A sheet metal worker, George was a WW II Veteran having served with the U.S. Navy Seabees; he was also a 4th Degree Knight and member Knights of Columbus, Council #109 in Arlington, MA.

Beloved husband of Dorothy “Dot” (Arel) Smith. Loving father of George A. Smith, Jr. and his wife Kristin of Littleton, MA; Donna Belanger and her husband Robert of Littleton, MA; Susan Robinson and her husband Stephen of Wakefield, MA; Phillip Smith and his wife Anne of Belmont, MA. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and two great granddaughters.

Funeral from the Keefe Funeral Home, 5 Chestnut Street, Rt.60, Arlington, MA on Wednesday, February 19th at 9:00 am, followed by his funeral Mass in St. John’s Church, 2254 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge, MA at 10:00 am. Services will conclude at Cambridge Cemetery where he will be buried with military honors.

Visiting hours are at the Keefe Funeral Home in Arlington, MA on Tuesday, February 18th from 4:00 to 8:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of George may be made to the St. Patrick Food Pantry, 26R Chestnut Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
