A few memories of Grampa V:
- His hand made bike with all kinds of reflectors and gadgets and lambswool seat that he rode well into his 70's (and 80's?)
- His love of sweets (ice cream, flavored creamer that he drank like milk by itself)
- His love of numbers and how they correlate to the alphabet
- His "protein" bars (peanut butter rice kripie treats made with karo syrup instead of marshmellow)
- He always sat in the front row at church with a very loud "AAAA-MEN" easily heard anywhere in church
- The house he built WITHOUT nails (still not sure if this is an urban legend or if this is really true)!
- His TV was either on Mass with Father DiPerri, History channel, or Science channel
- He had some killer legs, even in his 80's - must've been all the biking he did
- He would bike into Boston to watch the fireworks at Charles River on the 4th of July
- His hair was always white as far as I can recall - could it have been from raising so many children?
- He called Nana "Franny" (which I thought was hysterical as a kid b/c I thought he was saying "Fanny")
RIP Grampa V.
