Obituary for Donald G. "DJ" Conroy Jr.

Donald G. "DJ" Conroy Jr.
CONROY, Donald G. “DJ”, Jr., 26, of Arlington passed away on June 29th, after suffering injuries from a fall while celebrating his 26th birthday with friends at his Redondo Beach, CA home.

He was born June 16th, 1990. As a youth growing up in Arlington, MA, DJ enjoyed participating in town sports, including hockey and lacrosse. Of his many hobbies, he was most fond of snowboarding and golf. Starting out as a caddie, he spent nine years working at the Winchester Country Club. He graduated from Arlington High School in 2008 and was the captain of the AHS golf team. He was honored as a coveted Francis Ouimet Scholar before heading off to the University of Connecticut. While attending college, DJ was a passionate member and president of the FSAE (Formula Society of Automotive Engineers) team. This team of 40+ engineers grew under DJ’s leadership and dedication, and their standings continue to improve. He graduated from UConn in 2012 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, and had remained an active supporter and advisor of the FSAE team ever since. He worked in the engineering field for a few years before being recruited by SpaceX. DJ wholeheartedly embraced this opportunity and moved to California in fall 2015. This turned out to be his dream job, and DJ thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of his new life there.

Cherished son of Susan (Davis) Conroy and treasured brother of Laura Conroy, of Arlington. Son of Donald G. Conroy, Sr. of FL (formerly of Arlington).

Beloved grandson of Charles and Joan Davis of Middleboro (formerly of Stoughton) and the late Richard and Elizabeth Conroy of Arlington.

Also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins including the Breheny family of E. Bridgewater, the Sullivan family of Braintree, the C. Davis family of Middleboro (formerly of Brockton), the B. Davis family of Franklin, the J. Davis family of Blackstone, the Visser family of Medfield, the Hayward family of NY, the Dixon family of Stoughton, the Leal family of Stoughton, the R. Conroy family of Northbridge, and the P. Conroy family of Arlington.

DJ was also blessed with countless dear friends and neighbors.

DJ was a phenomenal young man. He was bright, thoughtful, respectful, hardworking, fun-loving, and overly generous. DJ is our pride and joy, and he will be infinitely loved and missed.

The family will host a heartfelt celebration of DJ in a memorial service to be held at the Marriott Burlington on Saturday, July 23, from 5 to 9 p.m. We welcome all to gather- to laugh, cry and share stories in a joyful tribute to our beloved “Deej”.
