Obituary for May Waugh (McCrone)

Former Cambridge resident, May J. Waugh, 90, died July 18, 2016, at the LifeCare of Nashoba Valley in Littleton, MA.

At her request, no service will be held.

Mrs. Waugh was born March 26, 1926, in Cambridge, MA., to James & Jean McCrone. May met her future husband, Warren Waugh, at the Agassiz School, and in June 1945 they became reacquainted and later engaged. They married in 1946, and embarked upon a journey of 58 years together building family and friends along the way. May was pre-deceased by Warren in April 2002. May was a proud founding member of the PTA, and loved “her” Agassiz neighborhood. In 1965 she became the first commissioned salesperson at the Cambridge Sear & Roebuck and Sears Braintree, where she worked until her retirement in 1995. May was also chairperson of the Cambridge Republican Committee and she loved debating politics….knowing she was ALWAYS RIGHT!!

May spent many or her retirement years in East Greenwich RI with her son Bradley and his family and then returned to Cambridge as she lived at Cadbury Commons on Sherman Street before moving to LifeCare of Nashoba Valley in Littleton, MA.

She is survived by her son, Warren F. Waugh, his wife Liz, granddaughters, Kate and Molly; her son, Bradley Waugh, and grandchildren, James and Melanie.

In lieu of flowers and condolences, please honor May’s love of animals by making a donation to the MSPCA at 350 South Huntington Avenue, Jamaica Plain, MA 02130
