SMITH, Barbara S. (Scanlon), of Arlington. Passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 88, on January 19, 2017. Beloved wife of 63 years to Austin L. Smith. Loving mother of Barbara Penkala and her husband Richard of Arlington, Eileen Smith of Boston, Austin Smith Jr. and his wife Susan of Medford, and Patricia Bouley and her husband Ron of Windham, NH. Also survived by her six grandchildren Michelle, Jaclyn, Austin, Caroline, Nicole, and Emily, and two great grandchildren Julia and Nicholas. Funeral from the Keefe Funeral Home, 5 Chestnut St., RT 60 (Adjacent to St. Agnes Church) ARLINGTON on Monday at 10:30am. Funeral Mass in St. Agnes Church at 11:30am, followed by burial in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Arlington. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Sunday 1-4pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Barbara’s memory to Fidelity House, 25 Medford Street, Arlington, MA 02474, or Care Group Parmenter Homecare & Hospice, 1 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
