James A. Leanos
James A. Leanos, 85, of Medford, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 28, surrounded by his family.
He was born in Woburn, Jan. 10, 1930, the son of the late Arthur and Eleni (Tsiaras) Leanos.
Jim was educated in the Woburn school system and graduated from Woburn High School with the class of 1948. After graduating from high school, he joined the Air Force.
After his honorable discharge, James furthered his education by earning his Bachelors degree at Suffolk University.
Jim was self employed as an electronic distributer and manufacturer representative. He was a member of St. Athanasias The Great Greek Orthodox Church, the American Legion, Medford, and the Ahepa.
Jim lived life to the fullest with spontaneity and love. He cherished every single moment with his grandchildren, children and family who were his pride and joy. He loved spending time in Maine at the beach. He also loved to go fishing and enjoyed the ocean. He had an ear for music and was an avid piano player. He left a lasting impression on everyone he was lucky enough to meet. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He was predeceased by his loving wife Cynthia G. (Gogas) Leanos and his brothers George, John and Stanley Leanos.
He is survived by his son Harold and Roxceene Monaco of Buffalo, NY., a daughter, Erica and her husband Christos Giogas Medford, MA., a sister, Bella and her husband John Kontinos of Florida, five grandchildren, Rebecca, James and Joseph Leanos, and Nicholas and Alexander Giogas as well as several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited his calling hours Friday Jan 30th from 4pm to 7pm at the Keefe Funeral Home, 5 Chestnut Street (Route 60, adjacent to Saint Agnes Church) Arlington, MA. A period of visitation will take place from 10am-11am Saturday Jan 31st at St. Athanasius The Great Greek Orthodox Church 4 Appleton St., Arlington. His funeral service will follow the visitation at the church at 11. Burial will be in the Linwood Cemetery, Haverhill. In lieu of flowers contributions in his memory may be made to St. Athanasius The Great Greek Orthodox Church, 4 Appleton St., Arlington, MA 02474.
