Obituary for David H. Hal Evett

David H. Hal  Evett
David H. Evett, Of Arlington, MA formerly of Cleveland Heights, OH, Mount Pleasant, MI, and Denver, CO on May 25, 2011 after a difficult battle with lung cancer, died peacefully at his home surrounded by family. Devoted husband of Marianne Brish, loving father of Charles and wife Page, Ben and wife Kelli Edwards, and Sophia and husband Brian Cali, dear Baca of his grandchildren Nora, Alice, Abby, Maria, Spencer, Toby, Jessalyn, and Dashiell, and dear brother to Douglas Evett, Stuart Evett and Paula Shirley and their spouses and beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews.
A graduate of the University of the South with a doctorate from Harvard University, he was a dedicated Renaissance scholar, an eloquent poet, an emeritus professor of English at Cleveland State University, and the author of Literature and the Visual Arts in Tudor England, Discourses of Service in Shakespeare’s England and Strange Loops, a volume of poetry. He was an active member of the vestries, choirs, and church communities at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in E. Cleveland, Trinity Cathedral in Cleveland, and All Saints Parish in Brookline, MA. He loved baseball, Shakespeare, fly fishing, good food and beautiful music.
Friends and family are invited to a Eucharist funeral service Saturday June 4 at 2:00 pm at All Saints Parish 1773 Beacon St., Brookline, MA followed by burial at Mount Auburn Cemetery, 580 Mt. Auburn St., Cambridge, MA. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Boston Cecilia, or All Saints Parish, or a charity of your choice.
