Obituary for E. Denis Walsh

E. Denis Walsh
Edwin Denis Walsh, 72, of Boston, MA, passed away on Monday, December 26, 2016. Born on May 24th, 1944 in New York City, he was the son of the late Edwin and Ruth Walsh. Denis grew up in Levittown, New York and attended public schools before graduating from Boston College with a degree in Economics. After graduation, he traveled to the Middle East where he taught English at Baghdad College in Iraq. When he returned, he earned his M.B.A. from Boston College and joined the Army Reserve. Denis began his real estate career at the Codman Company before joining his mentor Jay Schochet at Schochet Associates. In 1976, Denis founded his own real estate development company, Weld Management, where he worked with his son Lucas.

An avid lawn tennis and racquets player, Denis’ love for the games earned him many life long friendships from around the world as well as the enduring title of “The Prince” for his endeavors both on and off the court. A sartorial bon vivant and raconteur, Denis never wanted for a good joke or a great suit. He will be dearly missed by his wife Eugenie, daughters Samantha and Annabel, sons McCabe and Lucas, daughter in law Christina, and his countless friends.

A private funeral was held on December 30th. A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 6, at 11 A.M. at Mt. Auburn Cemetery’s Story Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to Massachusetts’s General Hospital Respiratory ICU.
