James F.  Tierney
James F. Tierney, a lifelong resident of Arlington, died unexpectedly at the Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge on Thursday, March 31, 2011. Born in Arlington to the late Joseph and Margaret (Hunt) Tierney on May 30, 1930, he was 80. A veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars he retired from the US Navy after serving 20 years. After his retirement from the military he went to work for the Mass Turnpike Authority where he retired as a supervisor. Loving brother of Margaret Lynch of Sanford, ME; Robert of Woburn; Paul of Falmouth; Jean Jenkins of Sandwich; Richard of Orchard Park, NY; the late Joseph, John, Eileen Garych, Ann and William Tierney. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. Funeral from the Keefe Funeral Home, 5 Chestnut St., Rt.60, Arlington on Monday, April 4th at 10:00 AM. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Saint Eulalia Church, 50 Ridge St., Winchester at 11:00 AM. Service will conclude with burial at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at 3:00 PM on Monday. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours at the funeral home on Sunday, April 3rd from 3:00 to 6:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of James may be made to Homes for Our Troops, 6 Main St., Taunton, MA 02780.
