Mildred L.  Shanahan
Mildred L. Shanahan, of Cambridge, formerly of Arlington and Somerville, died at Youville House in Cambridge on Wednesday, March 23, 2011. Born in Somerville to the late David and Ellen (Crehan) Shanahan on October 2, 1911, she was 99. A retired School Teacher, she taught third grade at the Carr School in Somerville for 34 years. Mildred received her Bachelor's Degree in Education from the State Teachers College at Lowell in 1933 (Now U Mass Lowell) and her Master's Degree from Calvin College in 1956. She is survived by her nephews and niece, John R. O'Brien & family of Melrose; Peter Shanahan & family of Acton; Ned Shanahan & family of Farmington, CT; and Dorothy Shanahan & family of Watertown, Lillian Riley of Somerville; Evelyn Marcos and family of Cambridge; and Irene Dineen and family of Somerville. Funeral from the Keefe Funeral Home, 5 Chestnut St., Rt. 60, Arlington on Saturday, April 2nd at 9:00 AM. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Agnes Church, 30 Medford St., Arlington at 10:00 AM. Services will conclude with burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden. Relatives and friends invited.
