Christmas Memories

One Christmas Eve Santa came knocking on our front door. He had a large sack of presents; a jolly fellow, but I was very unsure if this was the real Santa because it sure looked a lot like my Uncle Bob Nichols. I remember he went across the street to visit the family whose youngest child was about 2 or 3 at the time. Her eyes got so big we thought they would pop out of her head. My Uncle was always doing wonderful things like that for folks all of his life. Uncle Bob and his wife, my Aunt Alice always included all of the kids in many of the things they did together. Another favorite memory is going to the ice cream store that serve up "banana buckets", a very large banana sunday with three kinds of ice cream, toppings, whipped cream, four bananas and nuts. It was all one could do to eat it, but eat we did. Our family moved to the west coast but we never forgot our Uncle Bob and Aunt Alice. I am so glad we were able to get back to Arlington last fall and had the opportunity to visit with Uncle Bob. Memories flood my thoughts in remembering all the family things we did together over the years. Uncle Bob will certainly be missed in the family circle.
