Virginia M. "Ginny"  Fitzgerald (Burns)
FITZGERALD, Virginia M., 65, a longtime resident of Naples, Florida and Billerica, Massachusetts died at Avow Hospice on June 1st , 2011 after a courageous year-long battle with cancer.

Virginia (Ginny) was born on May 7, 1946 in Somerville, Massachusetts, one of nine children of the late James and Helen (Arundel) Burns.

Virginia had worked at Lumbermen’s Mutual Insurance Company and Thayer McNeil in Boston, Massachusetts. She married her high school sweetheart, Stephen E. Fitzgerald on November 16, 1968 and had two children, Stephen E. Fitzgerald and his wife Tracy of Dracut and Mark J. and his wife Michelle of Billerica.

Virginia later returned to the workforce as a Department Head Secretary for the MITRE Corporation in Bedford, Massachusetts and was Office Manager of Millennium Plastics in Bradford, Massachusetts. After moving to Naples, Florida, in 1998, Virginia worked for many years for premier properties.

In addition to her husband and children, Virginia is survived by her brothers, James of Dover New Hampshire and William of Medford, Mass and sisters Nancy Bean of Medford, Mass, Patricia McFaun of Braintree, Mass, and Janet Slattery of Melrose, Mass.

Virginia was the very proud grandmother of six grandchildren, Nicole, Scott, David, Jake, Sean, and Sydney and her grand-dogs, and leaves behind many loving and supporting friends, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great grandnieces and nephews, and many cousins.

Virginia was predeceased by her brothers, Richard of Arlington, Paul of Weymouth and her sisters Jean Sutherby of Medford, and Joan Burns of Somerville.

Virginia was a true and beloved friend to all who knew her. She will always be remembered and her kindness and laughter, brightening up the lives of those around her.

A Memorial Service will be held by the Keefe Funeral Home, 2175 Mass Ave., NORTH CAMBRIDGE. Service dates and times will follow.
