It all started, of course, with a cat. Sometime in the early '80's a sweet gray and white cat wandered into our yard on Wendell St in Cambridge---just walked in and we started feeding it. But where did it come from? Through the neighborhood grapevine we were told to check with the "cat lady" of Crescent St. Priscilla Connors, and indeed Queenie did come from her--shy to live with her others. I guess we passed muster and Queenie was our first pet. Years later, when our rent tripled we needed to find a new place to live and again through the neighborhood grapevine we found there was an apartment coming open.....on Crescent St. -- landlady Priscilla Connors!!!! it seemed we were meant to be connected in this life and I am so grateful for the wonderfulness of raising my family on this magical street. After Priscilla had her stroke, we became weekend buddies and I think I could write a book about "Weekends with Priscilla"! Yard sales, dinners, occasional serenades by a musician named Carlos....later, when she moved back home, lots of movies--notably Gregory Peck's (her idol) and Elizabeth Taylor's (her twin when younger)....and a cat. The moment she moved back into her house my cat Sam--then about 14 or so---came with me to visit her...and never left. He was her last animal love...full circle.
Goodbye my dear dear Priscilla...
