The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Barbara Jean Dames can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Condolence: On behalf of the Harvard University Retirees Association, I send our condolences on the passing of Barbara Jean Dames. Barbara was an active member of our Association and a highly regarded colleague and friend. Malcolm Hamilton, our past president, sent along this message upon learning the news: "I knew Barbara in her role as head of interlibrary lending for Widener almost from my first day at the University. She was a fine person and a credit to the University with her worldwide contacts."
