The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Stephen L. Hoar can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Condolence: Steve Hoar was one of the all time greats. The most charismatic and loyal guy I've known. He could light up a room and fire up his players. Running mates with my father since I was boy - a great family friend and mentor. The hockey community lost a great guy this week. Coach Hoar will be dearly missed. Rest in peace Stevie and thank you for everything you ever did for me and my family.
My deepest condolences Sean and Katie.

Condolence From: Chris Rizzo
Condolence: Coach Hoar was a great man and loved his hockey players. I'll always remember at the first day of West Point hockey tryouts, he skated up to me and said, "Its a long way from East Boston Rizzo, think you can handle it, and I said, "I won't be here if I didn't" and he said "That's what I like to hear" and tapped me on my butt with his stick. That bit of encouragement meant the world to me. Love Ya Coach! Chris Rizzo

Condolence: Coach was one of a kind, you just had to know him to truly know him, his passion for the game, his devotion and dedication to student -athletes for their success both on and off the ice , in the classroom and in society.

His moral compass guided him and influenced others .

He was never without his great smile, always positive even in a negative situation. His friendships are countless

He was truly a one of a kind guy and will be missed .

He leaves a legacy that will serve as a guiding light for future coaches , teachers, and sport administrators.

Condolence: I remember waking up from surgery my second week of college and seeing Coach Hoar in my room waiting to see how I was feeling. That's when I realized Coach Hoar was more than a coach but also cared about his players and served as a mentor to many of his players.

Coach Hoar was a very witty and outgoing coach who touched the lives of countless hockey players. He was a great guy in the classroom and around campus.

The hockey world and Becker College lost a great man. May he rest in peace.
